Would You Run A Marathon in Sandals?

“Not on a bet,” would be most people’s answer. But what if you lost a bet? That’s exactly what happened to our engineer Chris Bellamy, who boldly promised he’d run a marathon in our new custom-fit sandals if we raised $500,000 or more on Kickstarter when we launched the project.

We're excited to announce that on April 16, together with 30,000 or so other hopefuls, Chris will be at the starting line of the Boston Marathon in Hopkinton, MA and attempt to run 26.2 miles...in flip flops.

When everyone said our sandal was impossible, I bet them that I’d be able to run a marathon in them,” Chris told us, “and now I will. There is nothing more pleasing as an engineer than to put your money where your mouth is.” Or in this case, where his feet are. “We’ve reengineered every part of the traditional flip flop to design the most comfortable, optimized sandal ever created, and I’ve had this marathon in the back of my mind through every decision we made.

We really can't think of a better illustration of the personalized fit, comfort, and durability of our new sandals than wearing them to compete in one of the world’s oldest annual marathons. Look, we’re not saying you should run a marathon in our new sandals. But we’re saying you could. That’s how confident we all are in our product!
