How do you get ready for the funnest half marathon in the world? The PreWheeze party.
The FitMyFoot booth was right outside the doors to the SeaWheeze store, so we had a front row seat to watch the early morning shopping frenzy. The FitMyFoot team started showing up shortly after 6:00 am and there was already a line-up wrapping around the convention center! Judging from all the bags we saw, this years’ limited edition SeaWheeze merchandise did not disappoint.
At FitMyFoot, we believe that harnessing your uniqueness is the key to feeling, moving, and living your best—whatever that looks like! So our activation focused on celebrating individuality and embracing the unique journeys that led people to attend the SeaWheeze Half-Marathon.
Everyone has a different idea of what personal success looks like, and often times, for runners, that’s a timestamp or a distance. We shifted the focus back to what really matters and asked attendees to share with us what feeling, moving, and living their best looks like to them. We then snapped a pic to commemorate and printed it off instantly with an HP Bluetooth Sprocket Printer. The ink is embedded in the paper and the printer heats it up to activate it—how cool is that?
We also had the FitMyFoot Pinboard with us, which is always a fan favorite! Check out this Head stand:
Inside the tent we had two capture kiosks which are basically a streamlined version of our app process; what would normally take 5 minutes at home, we can achieve in ~30 seconds.
The FitMyFoot R&D team was also on-site at the PreWheeze party to compile 3D scans and invite people to join our Beta Test Group. A group of people who help us test out our latest prototypes and provide feedback that helps us figure out what products to create next!
The team received a lot of questions about why we brought grass (AKA incredibly believable faux grass) into our space. Well, first, if we’re asking you to take off your shoes, there should at least be some luscious terrain waiting for you to step on.
Second, the human foot wasn’t designed to walk on surfaces like asphalt or concrete, it was designed to walk on surfaces like dirt, sand, or...grass!
We designed FitMyFoot Insoles with this in mind to offer the perfect blend of stability and flexibility. They’re sturdy enough to support your foot as you pound the pavement, but they’re still flexible enough to give your feet a natural range of motion so your muscles stay safe and strong.
Earlier this year, FitMyFoot had the opportunity to collaborate with Lululemon’s SeaWheeze Half-Marathon to create limited edition custom insoles, exclusively for their runners.
FitMyFoot custom insoles help keep you comfortable and reduce your risk of injury, and while they're great for most shoes and activities, they're particularly great for runners! Don't worry, if you haven’t gotten a pair yet there's still time!
FitMyFoot CEO, Shamil Hargovan, and FitMyFoot Engineer, Chris Bellamy (yes, the same guy that ran the Boston Marathon in sandals) had the opportunity to run the funnest half marathon in the world.
What did they think? They were both quick to tell us that itdid live up to the hype and they were entertained (and comfortable, thanks to their FitMyFoots) the entire time. Chris’s only feedback? He wished the shorty shorts were available for men. Maybe next year, Chris!
The SeaWheeze Half-Marathon is one of our favorite weekends here at FitMyFoot, and this year was no exception! A lot of energy goes into the preparation for this weekend from both the runners and the organizers, and it was a privilege to see it come to life. From dancers on stilts to a life sized loofah (at least we think it was a loofah), The 2018 SeaWheeze Half-Marathon was an experience none of us will forget!
