FitMyFoot products are manufactured in sunny San Diego so when we heard that this year's MindBody BOLD conference would be held on our home turf we couldn’t pass up the chance to join in on the fun!
BOLD is a three-day event that brings together business owners in the wellness, fitness, and beauty industries from all over North America. Providing education on the latest strategies for growing their businesses and providing world-class experiences for their customers.
What do fitness, wellness and beauty professionals all have in common? They spend a lot of time on their feet in service of others, and are often influential leaders in their communities.
Everyone who stopped by the FitMyFoot booth at the BOLD conference already knew how important taking care of your body is, which wasn’t really a surprise, after all, they’re also in the business of helping people feel, move and live their best. We had a blast chatting with attendees from all over North America and introducing them to our technology through the streamlined app process on our kiosks. We also learned a lot about how our custom insoles and custom sandals fit into the MindBody world!
What’s the best kind of shoe for Hairdressers? The ones with a pair of FitMyFoots in them.
Hairstylists spend the majority of their day on their feet and are much more likely to suffer from overuse injuries like plantar fasciitis or achilles tendonitis. Not to mention issues higher up the kinetic chain like knee, hip, or back pain; two-thirds of hairstylists suffer from regular back pain. FitMyFoot insoles can help prevent back pain by providing custom support at the base of your kinetic chain which, in our completely unbiased opinion, is one of the easiest things you can do to take care of your body. Plus, FitMyFoots fit in a wide variety of shoes, so you don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort.
Yes, you read that right: you no longer have to choose between style and comfort. You’re welcome, folks. Get a pair here.
An easy way for massage therapists to take care of themselves.
Being a massage therapist (you know, those magical people who knead your body like a piece of dough and leave you feeling relaxed and blissed out) is hard on the body.
Ironic, isn’t it?
According to the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) the average massage therapist will have aseven-year career. Similar to hair stylists they spend a lot of time on their feet and rely heavily on their bodies to complete their work. Ergonomic practices and making self-care a priority are crucial to a long, happy career in massage therapy. FitMyFoot's help keep you aligned from the ground up so you can use your energy efficiently and maintain optimal movement patterns.
The FitMyFoot Sandal is a yogi’s best friend.
Yoga teachers, let’s talk.
How often do you tell your students to listen to their bodies, only to leave class and slip on a pair of flip-flops that make your body cringe? (the toe scrunch is REAL). We’ve been told that our sandals feel like a cross between a [famous German sandal] and a pair of yoga pants. Supportive but comfortable, with a made for you fit that hugs all your curves in just the right places. If you're ready to walk the talk and get your body a pair of sandals that will make it happy, click here.
No, these aren’t actually Michelle Obama’s FitMyFoots. But they could be.
Michelle Obama kicked off day two of the conference with an inspiring, empowering, and refreshingly candid address that somehow managed to transform a huge auditorium into an intimate fireside chat amongst friends.
The former first lady is a huge advocate for health and wellness, during her time in the white house she launched the ‘Let’s move!’ initiative, which aims to solve the obesity epidemic in America. Her message was clear, through our choices and actions we have the power to change our lives, our communities, and even entire industries. Conversations around wellness are happening and we need to encourage accessibility and inclusiveness in these conversations.
This resonated with us because here at FitMyFoot we make custom products for the purpose of helping people feel, move, and live their best, whatever that looks like. Making functional customization, and by extension, ease of movement, accessible to everyone, so that people can live active lives for longer.
Ditto on these ones, but we bet Billie Jean King's soles look something like these.
We closed out the last day of BOLD with the one and only Billie Jean King: tennis legend, author, and activist. We were fortunate enough to hear her first-hand recollections of some of her most memorable moments, including some that were also pivotal moments in history. (Battle of the sexes, anyone?). She was hilarious, powerful and to the friggen point. Not only inspirational but also empowering. Reminding us that equality has come a long way, but the work is far from finished and we all have a role to play.
“You can be inspired daily if you just look, never stop learning and never stop learning how to learn”
Stay curious, keep innovating, and find inspiration in the ordinary. It’s how FitMyFoot started and is at the core of all that we do. Custom isn’t new, in fact, it’s the original way of manufacturing, but it was time-consuming and expensive. On the other hand, mass manufactured products are made for no one in particular and fit accordingly, they’re relatively cheap but cost our environment more than we realize. FitMyFoot wanted the best of both worlds, so we used technology to create a scalable way to create custom products.
Thank you.
To the organizers, fellow sponsors, and attendees: thank you for helping create an amazing event—see you next year!
