Taking foot photos (Foot.Science app)
Which app do I take measurements with?
Foot.Science is our brand new measuring app that generates a 3D model from 6 photos that you take of your feet. It is available on iOS and Android. All that is needed is a piece of paper (letter or A4) and a chair for you to sit in.
If you are an existing customer, you do not need to take a new scan with the Foot.Science app before measuring. However, if you’re curious and you’d like to see your 3D foot model, feel free to use our new app.
The Wiivv app is our original app that requires a flat wall against which you place your heel and the edge of the paper. Photos are to be taken while standing. Note that any new customers should use the Foot.Science app.
How do I use the app?
1. Download the Foot.Science app from the App Store or Play Store.
2. Get a piece of paper and find a chair on a hard surface. Remove your socks and shoes.
3. Ensure you have a good cell or WiFi connection.
4. After sitting down, lay the paper down landscape and put half of your foot on the paper, halfway along the paper.
5. Follow the chat directions and watch the instructional videos in the chat before starting to get a good idea of how to hold your phone to take pictures.
6. After taking your photos, save your profile and verify your email in your inbox in order to complete the scan upload.
My paper isn't lined up with the green box or white rectangle when I take the side photos
If your paper isn't lined up with the white paper outline or the green rectangle that shows up after that, don't worry. The most important part is that all 4 paper corners and your heel are in the photo.
After the green box has appeared, stay there and hold your phone steady. The app will take a picture in just a couple seconds.
My model won't generate
Our top tips for ensuring your model will generate are the following:
- Ensure your lighting is good and your paper is on a hard surface
- Ensure your paper is landscape relative to you, and that your foot is halfway onto the paper, and halfway down the paper
- Ensure all 4 corners of your paper are in each photo
I can't get the green rectangle to stay long enough to take the photo
This happens most frequently when your phone is on the edge of our accepted range of angles at which the photo can be taken. Tilt your phone slightly more into the range and hold it steady in order for it to take the photo.
If that isn't working, move your phone back to a normal position that you would hold it in and start the process of lining your paper up with the box over again.
The app won't take the top photo
This happens most frequently when your phone is either too close or too far away from you, or tilted too much. To be in the right position, your phone should be about 4 inches past the edge of your toes, and the bottom of your phone tilted towards yourself about 5-10 degrees from the horizontal.
If that isn't working, move your phone back to a normal position that you would hold it in and start the process of lining your paper up with the box over again. Move your phone slowly and be patient.
The app won't take a side photo
This happens most frequently when your phone is either too close or too far away from you, or tilted too much. To be in the right position, your phone should be in the acceptable green tilt range, either to the left or right, and parallel to your foot.
If that isn't working, move your phone back to a normal position that you would hold it in and start the process of lining your paper up with the box over again. Move your phone slowly and be patient.
How do I measure again?
You can measure again by first tapping the three lines in the top left of your Foot.Science screen, and then taking the Measure again text, as seen in the images below.

How do I buy for someone else?
Due to the personalized nature of our product, it’s very important that each person have their own account associated with their own foot photos.
Therefore we recommend that if you're buying for someone else, you purchase a gift card so that they can personalize their footwear and take their own foot measurements. Otherwise, if you purchase on their behalf, the insoles will be measured to your foot profile instead of theirs.
Receiving orders
My insoles/sandals haven’t arrived
Please send a note to care@fitmyfoot.com if you haven't received your package within 3 weeks of placing your order.
A common issue for delayed orders is that there was an issue with your foot measurements and we weren't able to get a hold of you.
How do I file a claim with USPS or Canada Post?
Why is my order on hold?
Usually when your order is on hold, it means we've found an issue with your foot photos. Here are the most common issues with foot photos:
- Heel not fully against the wall
- Arches aren't clearly visible or are too dark
- Baseboard trim on wall is causing heel to be pushed out too far from wall
Here's what you need to do to fix:
- Sign back into your account on the app.
- Tap on the little person in the top left hand corner.
- Tap your name and then scroll down to Foot Profile. The bottom of this page will say "Retake Photos".
- After all the photo's are re-taken, go ahead and click the link from the email we sent you ("Your order is on hold"), and it should open up the app and connect the new foot photos with your order!

- Just pull the strap down and out at the base of the sandal. They should easily “Pop!” out

I lost my toe thong keys, how do I get another?
Not to worry! Each pair of sandals comes with two toe thong keys (one in the sole of each footbed). The extra key can be found along the arch between the footbed top layer and the sole of the shoe (you will see a silver key tucked neatly between).
If the keys are missing, please email care@fitmyfoot.com.
Can I put women’s straps on a men’s sandal and vice versa?
No. Women’s straps only fit with women’s footbeds and vice versa for this version of sandal.

Taking foot photos (Wiivv app)
Help! I don't have a wall without curved trim.
If put your heel up against a box (as a faux wall) during the top-down photos, this will give us the workaround we need. Our only request with this is to tape the piece of paper down to ensure it does not slide around/beneath the box during the process.
Otherwise, if a box workaround is not an option - some customers have had success with using the flat edge of a door frame.
I can't get my heel against the wall
If you sit on a chair, and put your heel up against a box on the piece of paper, this will give us the photos we need as a workaround.
My foot is longer than the paper
It’s not a problem if your foot is longer than the paper. As long as you indicate the correct paper size (A4 or letter) when you take your photos, we’ll be able to get the measurements we need.
Do I need to take new measurements? I’ve previously ordered
If you've already taken your foot measurements, you will not need to retake photos.
How do I retake my foot photos?
If your photos were rejected, tap "Profile" on the bottom left of your screen, in the Wiivv mobile app. You will be prompted to create or recapture your foot profile.
Please contact care@fitmyfoot.com to make a request to retake previously approved photos.
